What’s This About Nearly Zero Energy Buildings?

A recent email from the International Passive House Association (iPHA) reminded us that the European Union is about to implement “nearly-Zero Energy Buildings”, (nZEB) regulations.

The goal of these regulations are a:

  • 20% improvement in energy efficiency
  • 20% improvement in use of renewables
  • 20% cut to greenhouse gases

These goals nest within the larger goals of new buildings with:

  • Very high energy efficiency / nearly-zero energy demand
  • Cost-optimal levels of energy efficiency from a life-cycle perspective
  • Very significant contribution from renewable energy sources (RES) produced on-site or nearby

We know our customers want the very same from their home. It’s why we build to Passive House standards, which, has proven over the past 25 years to meet the goals of “nearly-Zero Energy Buildings”.

Here at Ecocor - we do more than meet minimum building codes. It’s in our self-interest to design and construct homes that are comfortable, durable and efficient. And by “our”, we mean everyone on this planet.

We choose to build homes with the health and future of the earth in mind, rather than short term aesthetic aspirations. You don’t need regulations to “build to last”.
