Ecocor offers two enclosure systems: Ecocor Optima and Ecocor Passiv.
Which is right for you?
Either system can be used for our custom homes and our pre-designed Solsken homes.
Our experience with Passive House construction has given us a deep understanding of the benefits of these high standards for energy-efficiency. When we build a home to Passive House standards, we go one step beyond the already rigorous requirements and use the most sustainable, healthy building products available on the market today. We call these enclosure systems our Ecocor Passiv systems. Depending on your needs, budget and site location, an Ecocor Passiv home, which fully meets all Passive House standards, may be the best option for you.
In some cases, however, clients want an energy-efficient, healthy, comfortable home but do not require a fully-compliant Passive House. Chris Corson, Ecocor’s founder, has devised an enclosure system called Optima to meet the needs of such clients. While the options chosen may or may not meet the criteria for Passive House certification, our Optima enclosure systems utilize our Passive House expertise and panelized technology to hit the “sweet spot” between sustainability, cost and performance.

Ecocor Optima
Ecocor’s Optima Walls are airtight and water-resistant. The structural layer is sheathed 1/2″ Huber Zip system and is airtight. Wrapped with a continuous layer of Gutex wood fiberboard insulation on the exterior the Optima wall line is thermal bridge free and vapor open. The Gutex is protected with Pro Clima’s Mento 3000 advanced TEEE membrane that is waterproof to a 32ft water column. A 3/4″ Rainscreen is applied over the membrane to decrease vapor drive toward the house and to allow drainage. Ecocor’s Optima walls are delivered with windows installed in the factory and are flashed and watertight. Ready for trim and siding once erected. We also use large fixed windows where appropriate. Ecocor has developed our own innovative installation systems to ensure that your home’s windows and doors will perform at the absolute highest levels.

A 3/4″ Rainscreen is applied over the membrane to decrease vapor drive toward the house and to allow drainage. Ecocor’s Optima walls are delivered with windows installed in the factory and are flashed and watertight. Ready for trim and siding once erected. infiltration. We also use large fixed windows where appropriate. Ecocor has developed our own innovative installation systems to ensure that your home’s windows and doors will perform at the absolute highest levels.

Ecocor PassivRoof
Ecocor’s PassivRoof™ is ideal for situations when a sloped cathedral ceiling is desired and parallel chord roof trusses won’t work. Designed with the same parameters as our PassivWall™, the PassivRoof offers the highest performance available in a roof assembly. The PassivRoof has a deep interior service cavity, a well-protected airtight layer and a deep exterior blanket layer. It is covered with our high-performance weather resistive barrier and an integral vent channel. The PassivRoof has connection details which allow fast and easy air-sealing and construction joint insulation after installation. The PassivRoof is carried by either a structural ridge beam or a load-bearing wall, and can be used singly (as a mono-pitch “shed” roof) or be paired to create a gable roof.
